How about that!?
I was taken by surprise yesterday. Someone wonderful crossed my path. My friend Steve and I were having lunch at Perenn Bakery, (the best coffee I’ve ever had) when I noticed this woman sitting across the way.
She was wearing this dark pullover that I coveted. Steve told me I should go ask her where she got it, but I was like, Nah. I didn’t want to bother her.
Well, as she got up to leave, Steve asked her where she got the jumper. She says it's nothing special and she got it a couple of years ago. I told her why we asked and why I liked it so much. She was very nice and said thanks and continued on her way.
10 minutes later, I feel something gentle settle on my shoulders. She came back and gave me the jumper. She said, “I want you to have it. Enjoy!” I was so surprised! What a sweet gesture. I mean, I teared up. What in the world? Steve and I were both like, what just happened?!
After lunch, I returned to the office and immediately tried it on. It’s perfect.
What gets me is, there was no reason to give it to me. In that, I wasn’t cold, or in need. She gave it to me because she thought it would bring me a bit of joy. And it has. It made my day, my week, my month.
I didn’t get her name. She was very quick. But I hope she knows what a wonderful gesture that was. I love my hometown. I love the people who live here and make it a great place.
I tell you, I have been smiling since. I’m waving to people when I walk Mags. I’m the crazy happy lady with the Craigslist terrier.
Thank you again, mystery lady. Happy December everyone!
